WIPNYC was launched in June of 2008 by Amy Elkins and Cara Phillips. As an internet-based project, WIPNYC is an outlet to exhibit work outside of the traditional model of the commercial art world, allowing it to reach a global audience. Mixing emerging photographers with artists that have achieved high levels of success within fine art and commercial worlds, the project is designed to be a resource for photographers, editors, curators, gallery owners, and viewers alike to discover and enjoy the work of female artists. WIPNYC presents a solo exhibition of work from select photographers on every third Tuesday.

Co-curated by Amy Elkins and Cara Phillips, Women in Photography is a project of Humble Arts Foundation.

“Edifiointi on mieltä ylentävää toimintaa, sukulaisuutta voimautumiseen, eheytymiseen ja valokuvaterapiaan on. Kyseessä on yksilön minäidentiteetin rakentamisesta ja rakentumisesta ja yhteiskunnan kulttuurisesta vallasta, ymmärtämisestä ja muutoksesta, emansipaatiosta.

Termi “edifioiva” on tässä kaiku filosofi Richard Rortyn edifioivasta filosofiasta. Filosofian tehtävänä on pitää yllä ja kehittää mieltäylentävää keskustelua…”
